You've probably seen Audrey Hepburn's My Fair Lady. This is the novel which that movie was based on. It's obviously written in play form which makes it pretty easy to read. I noticed so many things different in the movie that was first put into the novel. I always thought Liza ended up with Higgins (it seems appropriate right? I mean they are destined to be together it seems) but that is not so. Oh well. Enjoy!

Oh Sylvia Plath. Poor thing. As you probably know, Sylvia Plath, the author of this novel which is pretty much all based on her life, killed herself by putting her head in an oven. This novel is rather morbid. It is about a young girls fall into insanity. Read it. I finished it in a day it was so good.

Brave New World

This novel by Aldous Huxley was suprisingly intresting to me. At first I felt extremely akward while reading this, but suddenly I came to understand the meaning behind this book. Practically everything in the world in which this author has created is the exact opposite of our real world. Children don't have parents (saying the word "mother" is like saying a bad word) they are created in jars. There are different classes of people who wear different colors to indicate their class. It is completely strange and rather science fiction, but I throughly enjoyed it.

This book may seem complicated at first but it really brings to mind the idea of "big brother is watching you!!" It's kind of spooky in that it makes you wonder what a world like that would be like. Constantly being watched, not being able to love, it's not cool not cool at all i say!!

George Orwell wrote it and he is also the writer of Animal farm so ch-ch-ch-check it out! (as the beasty boys would say!)

This book was phenomenal! It's a must read for everyone. Night is about one man's terrible struggle during the Holocaust. It's a competely true story and will make you cry. I swear the entire time I had to remind myself that these events really occured. This novel takes you into the horror and desperate strive to stay alive.

A Passage to India (and some extra)

So it was just last night as i cozied up in bed to read my latest puruse Moby Dick that I realized that Pride and Prejudice is in fact not on the book club list. Oh well. It's a classic and a must-read!!

Anyways, about A Passage to India. It's a fabulous book until it suddenly seems it should have ended. It is about the cultural difficulties between two seperate races and the heritage that goes along with it. Now, while the book is really though provoking and one that you feel will inspire the way you view different cultures, after the main conflict, it feels like the author should have stoppped the book. Instead, there are ramblings for about 60 or so pages, but it still seems like one that all of you should read

Pride and Prejudice

So you've all probably seen the movie starring Keira Knightly. Intresting. It so doesn't stick to the book, but there is a really good movie with Colin Firth that does. This book is so amazing. It's by Jane Austen (one of my favorite authors of romantic fiction) and it is one of those books that you don't necessarly know how it's going to end. It really gives you a view into life in Europe during that day and age and the pressures to marry rich (although i wouldn't mind finding love in a rich man like Jude Law or Prince Harry ahhh..) Anyways, I definitly recommend this book and if your just starting the book list this is a great one to initially begin with. Curl up with a nice warm coffee and drift off into the world of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. I promise you'll LOVE it!
